Privacy Policy — English Fun! (English Kids)
Last updated: 2026-07-16
English Fun! (“the app”) is an English-learning app for children. We designed it to be safe and private by default. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with information.
The short version
By default, the app works fully offline and collects no personal information. There are no ads, no analytics, and no third-party tracking. A parent can optionally turn on cloud backup from the Parent Area — and only then is game progress backed up to our secure cloud. The child’s name and chosen character are NEVER uploaded; they stay on the device.
Information stored on the device
The app saves the following only on your device (using the device’s local storage). It never leaves the device and we never see it:
- The player profiles you create (a name and a chosen character).
- Game progress: which levels are unlocked, stars earned, and shop items.
You can remove all of this at any time by deleting a profile inside the app, or by deleting the app.
Optional cloud backup (parent-enabled)
A parent can create an account in the Parent Area (Sign in with Apple or email + password). Creating an account turns on cloud backup. When enabled:
- We back up game progress only — levels, stars, score, and shop items.
- We store the parent’s email (an adult’s, given with consent) to manage the account and send optional reports.
- The child’s name and character are never uploaded. They remain on the device only.
- Data is stored with Supabase (our cloud provider) and protected by per-account access rules so only that account can read its data.
A parent can delete the account and all cloud data at any time from the Parent Area (“מחיקת חשבון”). Deleting the app also removes all local data.
Microphone & speech recognition
Some games (such as “Say It” / “תגידו באנגלית”, the counting game, and the feeding game) let a child practice saying an English word out loud. When the child taps the microphone:
- The microphone is used only during that activity, and never outside the speaking games.
- Speech is recognized by the device’s built-in speech service — Apple’s speech recognition on iPhone/iPad, and Google’s speech recognition on Android. As with system dictation, the audio may be processed on Apple’s or Google’s servers to perform the recognition, under their respective privacy terms (Apple, Google).
- We never receive, record, save, or share any audio. The app uses the recognition result in the moment, only to check whether the word was said, and then discards it. No recordings or transcripts are stored on the device or sent to us.
Children’s privacy
The app is intended for children and complies with Apple’s Kids Category requirements and applicable children’s privacy laws (such as COPPA and GDPR-K). The app itself collects no data, so there is no personal information of children (or anyone) for us to access, use, or disclose; speech recognition is performed by the device’s operating system as described above. There are no behavioral ads and no third-party data sharing.
No third parties
The app contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, and no social logins. Optional cloud backup (above) uses Supabase solely to store a parent’s account and a child’s game progress — never for advertising or tracking. Speech recognition (above) is provided by the device’s operating system (Apple / Google), not by an embedded third-party SDK, and we receive no audio from it.
